Kinesiology

Kinesiology is the study of the art and science of human movement from the Greek word which is used to describe the study of movement or motion although Kinesiology is probably more easily defined as the study of muscles and their movements. However, in the natural health field the term Kinesiology is used in a different way.

The number of people training as Health Kinesiology practitioners is increasing steadily, but interest in kinesiology is growing even faster. As a consequence it is one of the fastest growing holistic therapies and is now practiced in over 104 countries.

Kinesiology is a safe, natural, effective and complete complementary therapy based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and one of the greatest virtues of Kinesiology is its versatility. There are a number of Kinesiology variations which are based on the original research of Dr George Goodheart, recognised as the founder of modern Kinesiology, including:

> Energy Kinesiology, which is a system of communicating with a person on various levels of consciousness.

> Specialized Kinesiology is neuro-muscularly oriented.

> Systematic Kinesiology is a potent, safe, powerful, hands-on, drug-free natural approach to holistic health care.

> Aromatic Kinesiology is a unique combination of essential oils and energetics.

Kinesiology> Health Kinesiology is a holistic therapy that combines Traditional Chinese Medicine with Western techniques.

> Applied Kinesiology is a form of healing that involves several different aspects, including the patient's structural, mental and chemical makeup and a practice often taught in chiropractic schools. It was first introduced in 1964 and is usually performed by health care professionals, however, it is not meant to be used purely on its own.

> Resonant kinesiology is a meditative form of educational bodywork.

> Educational Kinesiology is the study of movement as it relates to learning.

> Reactive Muscle Kinesiology is a method of balancing muscle energy.

Kinesiology is a gentle and non-invasive body therapy which seeks to balance the entire individual; physically, mentally and emotionally and is closely related to bio-mechanics. One of the powers of the Touch for Health kinesiology is that the balancing sessions can be performed anywhere and without special equipment. It is also now being used to assess a client's nutritional needs but has become hotly debated as a form of testing for food intolerance.

Kinesiology uses a holistic approach to balancing a person's energy systems and to determine how well a person handles emotional, mental and spiritual stress. Kinesiology is therefore used as a preventative rather than a cure in helping ward off disease and is much more than a unique natural therapies tool. As a consequence, kinesiology is the most modern complimentary medicine programme available.
