Meditation Benefits

The treasures of our true soul remain hidden under layers of mind, matter and illusion.  Our attention is focused on the outer world and not the inner world.  Mediation is a way to cut through these blockages to experience our true selves.  The world that we live in appears to be full of strife, pain and disharmony.  The pace seems to get faster with each passing year.  I do not think that anyone would not like to step aside from this, if only for half an hour in order to experience peace, stillness and tranquility.

With each hurt, trauma, and stress, our body and its energy become more disconnected.  As we learn to meditate we become more aware of our body and the messages it can give.  It allows our life force ‘Prana’ and Chi to flow helping to maintain health and well-being.

“All you need is deep within you waiting to unfold and reveal itself. All you have to do is be still and take time to seek for what is within, and you will surely find it” Eileen Caddy

The physical and mental benefits of meditation

TIME Meditation Article Cover* The heartbeat of meditators decreases on average by about three beats per minute

* The body’s consumption of oxygen decreases by as much as 20 per cent

* Blood lactate decreases – lactate is a substance produced by the metabolism of the skeletal muscles

* High blood pressure can be lowered

* Brain scans of people meditating reveal better connections between the different areas of the brain

* A meditator will have dominant alpha brain waves which are associated with relaxed and attentive states and this can help negate the Beta waves (stress state)

* It has been observed that brain waves synchronize during meditation

* Clinical studies have shown reductions in migraines, insomnia, irritable bowl, pre-menstrual tension (PMT), anxiety and panic attacks.

Learning to meditate and looking at the philosophy behind it enables the individual to let go of the past, the fears of the future and enjoy the present.  To be able to develop the mind to raise ones consciousness is a true gift that we can all attain.  Our mind is our greatest healer and tool to live a happy and content life.  At first you need to learn “lower meditation” to train your mind and develop your consciousness, then you will learn to release from all limitations of form and experience sitting in total bliss.  Meditation has been and is my support but I do admit that at first when learning it can be a pure effort, then a habit and now a joyous necessity.
